Job Opening - VDI Solutions Architect
Overview
Virteva is an independent IT consulting and managed services firm serving enterprise clients and medium sized businesses headquartered in the Twin Cities. Virteva offers a full range of IT infrastructure consulting services from assessments and strategic planning to design and implementation of IT business solutions. Focus areas include virtualization and optimization, security and access management, and messaging & collaboration solutions. Virteva also offers a full range of remote management and monitoring services, including servers, virtualization, and messaging technologies, as well as the underlying network, storage, and security platforms.
Job Summary
The role of the Solutions Architect is a leadership role that is responsible for supporting our customer with the identification of sales opportunity and successful delivery of projects. Additionally this person is responsible for assisting Virteva with identification and management of technology partnership that will lead to expanding sales opportunities. The internal responsibilities include leading various internal projects around the growth and mentorship of consultants and proactive skills enhancement for technology areas of responsibility. The following breakdown identifies the mix of activities expected for the person in this role.
- Delivery
- Participate in all major project meetings with the objective of compliance to established protocol and ensuring that the project is profitable
- High-level review of each client deliverable for content and adherence to the Virteva delivery process
- Participate in the completion phase of the delivery process
- Providing mentorship for other consultants as needed from start to the closeout of assigned projects
- Pre-Sales
- Working with the sales team in meetings to understand the client’s current state and future needs
- Proposal generation and involving additional consultants as required in the proposal process
- Assist Sales team with proposal delivery and justification of proposed solutions

- Maintain regular communication with technical contacts at Virteva’s key customers

Desired Education, Experience & Other Skills
Expert-level understanding of the technology, including:
- Architecture design of all complexity levels in the core skills identified including, migration, and/or integration
- Industry best practices in terms of implementation and operations of proposed solutions
- Identification of partner opportunities that will benefit Virteva and our clients
- Newer upcoming technologies either pre or post launched and how they can enhance solutions for our customers both technically and the business value being addressed in the following areas:
- Virtualization (VMware ESX/vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer)
- VDI (Citrix XenDesktop, Quest vWorkspace, VMware View, etc)
- Application Virtualization (Microsoft AppV, Microsoft RDS, Citirix XenApp, VMware ThinApp)
- Proven track record in enterprise class projects using the listed technologies
- Expert-level understanding and delivery of Virteva’s processes
- Outstanding ability to communicate, mentor, teach, and explain concepts at all levels (from entry-level consultant to C-level executives) with the capability to extract the business value related to the proposed solutions
- Ability to understand technology market trends and recommend solutions ideas, internally and externally; for implementation demonstrating Virteva market leadership
- Ability to identify and develop relationships with partners for the given technology
- Ability to motivate internal staff and our customers while instilling passion for technology
- Broad understanding of technology and has the ability to show how the application of technology to the business problems can increase growth and thus the bottom line value to businesses
- At least two industry certifications, e.g. MCITP, VCP, CCNA, EMC, PMP
- 3+ years of experience focusing on the technology or equivalent
- 5+ years of consulting experience or equivalent
